End of School Year
Published on Jun 29, 2017 14:06

As our school year winds down, I would like to thank parent council for all of their hard work this year. They have been fantastic.

Changes for next year: Mrs. Tilley will be changing our library to a learning commons which will include learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) as well as literacy. This learning commons will be open all day and will involve students from K-8. We are saying goodbye to Mrs. Darlington, Mrs. Silva, Mrs. Verral, and Ms. Pritchard; they will be missed. We welcome Ms. Patrick to our school who has transferred here for half days.

We are going to change the procedure for walkers for next year. As always, Kindergarten parents can pick up at the Kindergarten gate. Grade 1 to Grade 8 walkers will need to be picked up at the back gate or just off school property on the sidewalk at Loon Avenue. We need to keep all children safe and this last year, we had younger siblings running near buses, climbing on the electrical boxes and sliding on the snow hills into the parking lot with moving cars as well as people bringing dogs on the property. Having parents meet walkers off school property will keep all students safe and this is the procedure used at most schools.

That being said, we welcome parents and grandparents to volunteer in the school and we could use help with volunteers listening to students read or helping them with their math. We are looking forward to parent involvement in our fabulous school! Thank you for your wonderful support. Have a great summer and may God be with you.
